My School Menu is built by someone who runs school meal programmes for a living. Ashley Powell has been Child Nutrition Director at Auburn City Schools in Alabama since 2008, and has worked in school and clinical nutrition since 2001. She is a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN), a School Nutrition Specialist (SNS), and holds a PhD.
The site exists because of a small, daily problem she watched from the inside: a district publishes its menus faithfully, and families still cannot find them. The menu lives behind a login, or in an app, or three clicks deep on a district site, or as a PDF that will not open on a phone at seven in the morning. My School Menu takes what districts already publish and puts it on one page per school, with no account and nothing to install.

My School Menu is independent: it is not run by, or affiliated with, any school district or any of the menu platforms it reads from, including Auburn City Schools. Every menu here is published by the district that serves it. How the menus are fetched and published explains exactly where each one comes from and how often it is refreshed.
